Garmin Falls 1.1% Despite Record Q3 Revenue, Margin Expansion and Higher Guidance

Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) shares fell about 1.1% even after the company reported record third-quarter 2026 results and raised its full-year outlook.

Revenue increased 12% year over year to a record $1.99 billion. Gross margin expanded to 63.3%, while operating margin improved to 30.8%.

Operating income jumped 34% to a record $612 million. GAAP EPS reached $2.80, while pro forma EPS increased 39% year over year to $2.76.

Product momentum remained strong, with Garmin launching the fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro smartwatch series. The company also highlighted continued strength in aviation, including delivery of its 1,000th G1000 retrofit for King Air aircraft and more than 2,500 aircraft equipped with Garmin Autoland.

Management raised its full-year guidance following the stronger quarter.

The 1.1% decline appears to reflect a muted market reaction or profit-taking rather than deterioration in the underlying business, as Garmin delivered double-digit sales growth, substantial margin expansion and sharply higher earnings.
Garmin reported record first-quarter 2026 results, driven by strong revenue growth and expanding profitability.

Revenue rose 14% year-over-year to approximately $1.75 billion, marking a record for the first quarter. Profitability improved significantly, with operating income increasing 30% to $432 million, while operating margin expanded to 24.6% and gross margin to 59.4%.

Earnings also showed strong growth, with GAAP EPS reaching $2.09 and pro forma EPS at $2.08, up 29% from the prior year.

On the product side, Garmin highlighted continued innovation, including industry recognition for its Fenix 8 Pro, which was named “Best Connected Device” at the Mobile World Congress 2026.

The results reflect strong demand across Garmin’s product segments and effective cost management, supporting continued margin expansion.

Garmin Ltd. expanded its Guided Visual Approaches aviation database, adding 15 new approaches and 10 airports including Long Beach and San Jose in California.

The system provides lateral and vertical guidance for pilots during visual approaches at challenging airports, helping stabilize landings and improve safety, especially in areas with difficult terrain or nighttime city lighting.

The update was developed with Hughes Aerospace and is available for purchase through Garmin’s aviation database services for compatible avionics systems.
Garmin introduced a new 360-degree scanning sonar system designed to give anglers a complete view of fish and underwater structures around their boats. The system combines the GT360UHD transducer with the new motorized Spy Pole, allowing users to see detailed 2D and 3D sonar imagery in every direction without constantly rescanning the water.

The system uses OneVü sonar technology and True Motion GPS integration to maintain accurate positioning of underwater targets while the boat moves. It can scan and store an area roughly the size of a football field and integrates with Garmin chartplotters for customized display settings and control. When paired with Garmin’s LiveScope sonar, anglers can also access enhanced 3D views and directional beam overlays.

The Spy Pole enables independent control of the sonar transducer separate from the trolling motor through wireless foot controls, a gesture remote or chartplotter interface. Garmin said the new sonar solution will debut at the 2026 Bassmaster Classic and will be available for purchase starting March 13.
