Garmin Ltd. announced new software and feature updates for select smartwatches, including Venu X1, vívoactive 6, fēnix 8 Pro, Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970.

Key updates include enhanced gear tracking within the Garmin Connect app, allowing users to log more gear types, create gear collections, auto-assign equipment to activities and view gear lifespan progress directly on compatible watches.

New smartwatch features include a course planner for race preparation, live sports scores across 15 leagues (when paired with a smartphone), and mixed-session tracking for multiple activities in one workout. Garmin Fitness Coach now offers more personalized plans across 25+ activity types, while cyclists can receive Varia radar voice alerts on their watch.

Health additions include sleep alignment insights based on circadian rhythm and on-watch lifestyle logging for caffeine and alcohol, showing impacts on sleep, stress and HRV.

Additional updates target professional truck drivers with new road-focused tools and introduce expanded accessibility features, including spoken time and health data plus color display options for various forms of color blindness.

The free software updates are rolling out to compatible devices via Garmin Connect or Garmin Express.
