Alnylam Launches AMVUTTRA Awareness Initiative to Highlight Earlier ATTR-CM Diagnosis

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals has launched a new U.S. educational initiative called “Play by Play” to raise awareness of transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy, or ATTR-CM, and encourage earlier diagnosis of the progressive heart disease.

The campaign features former professional athletes living with ATTR-CM, beginning with retired football player Pete Shaw, alongside caregivers and healthcare professionals. Alnylam said the initiative is designed to highlight symptoms that can be mistaken for aging or other cardiovascular conditions, including shortness of breath, fatigue, leg swelling and irregular heart rhythms.

The campaign also promotes AMVUTTRA, Alnylam’s RNAi therapy that silences transthyretin, or TTR, at the source of the disease. AMVUTTRA is administered by subcutaneous injection four times per year and is approved in the U.S. for adults with ATTR-CM as well as hereditary ATTR polyneuropathy.

In the Phase 3 HELIOS-B study, AMVUTTRA reduced the risk of all-cause mortality and recurrent cardiovascular events by 28.2% in the overall population and 32.8% in the monotherapy population through 36 months compared with placebo.

Alnylam estimates that more than 500,000 people worldwide live with transthyretin amyloidosis, with roughly 80% remaining undiagnosed.

The initiative supports Alnylam’s broader commercial strategy around AMVUTTRA by combining patient education, earlier disease recognition and treatment awareness as the company works to expand adoption in the ATTR-CM market.
Alnylam Pharmaceuticals Stock Jumps 8.5% as H.C. Wainwright Reiterates Buy Rating

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ALNY) shares rose about 8.5% Wednesday after H.C. Wainwright reiterated its Buy rating on the biotechnology company, maintaining a $455 price target.

Alnylam is a biotechnology company specializing in RNA interference, or RNAi, therapeutics, an approach designed to silence disease-causing genes. The company has built a commercial portfolio around the technology while continuing to develop treatments across several therapeutic areas.

The analyst action appears to have contributed to positive sentiment around the stock, with shares gaining 8.5%. The rating information provided does not include H.C. Wainwright’s specific reasoning for maintaining the Buy recommendation, so the precise factors behind the analyst’s valuation cannot be determined from the report alone.
Alnylam Pharmaceuticals Stock Rises 3.3% as BMO Capital Initiates Coverage With $318 Target

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ALNY) shares are up about 3.3% after BMO Capital Markets initiated coverage of the biotechnology company with an Outperform rating.

BMO Capital analyst David Lebowitz set a $318 price target for Alnylam. Compared with the stock's current price of $236.21, the target implies approximately 35% upside, providing a bullish signal for the shares.

The positive initiation comes as Alnylam maintains a leading position in RNA interference (RNAi) therapeutics, a technology designed to silence disease-causing genes. The company has developed a commercial portfolio of RNAi medicines while continuing to expand its pipeline across cardiovascular, neurological and other serious diseases.

Alnylam's established RNAi platform and potential for additional indications give the company a differentiated position within the biotechnology sector. The 3.3% stock gain suggests investors are responding positively to BMO Capital's Outperform initiation and substantial implied upside in its $318 price target.

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals reported new clinical and real-world data supporting its RNAi-based cardiovascular treatments, presented at the American College of Cardiology Annual Scientific Session.

The data showed that vutrisiran improved quality of life and reduced disease progression in patients with transthyretin amyloidosis cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), with benefits observed across different stages of the disease, including advanced cases.

In addition, safety data for zilebesiran, an investigational therapy for hypertension, indicated a favorable profile and potential for long-lasting blood pressure control with infrequent dosing.

The results reinforce the potential of RNA interference (RNAi) therapies to deliver durable and differentiated outcomes in cardiovascular disease, supporting ongoing late-stage clinical development.

Alnylam to Invest $250 Million to Expand U.S. Manufacturing Capacity for RNAi Therapeutics

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals announced plans to invest $250 million to expand its manufacturing facility in Norton, Massachusetts, adding a proprietary enzymatic ligation platform designed to significantly increase siRNA production capacity and lower manufacturing costs. The expansion is intended to support growing global demand and future product launches across Alnylam’s expanding RNAi pipeline.

The new siRELIS enzymatic ligation platform has been accepted into the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Emerging Technology Program, enabling accelerated regulatory engagement worldwide. Alnylam said the platform has already been validated through pilot-scale production of candidates including zilebesiran for hypertension-related cardiovascular risk and nucresiran for transthyretin-mediated amyloidosis, demonstrating its potential for scalable, high-quality manufacturing.

Construction at the 200,000-square-foot Norton facility is underway, with full operational capability expected by late 2027. The company said the investment will strengthen Massachusetts’ role as a global biomanufacturing hub, support high-quality job creation, and enable more sustainable, efficient large-scale production of RNAi therapeutics for patients worldwide.
