Pearson secures statewide education assessment contract in Wyoming

March 26, 2026 — Pearson has been awarded a new contract by the Wyoming Department of Education to develop and deliver the state’s Comprehensive Statewide Assessment System for grades 1–10.

The agreement, covering the 2026–2027 cycle and beyond, includes management of key assessments such as WY-TOPP and WY-ALT, spanning subjects including English language arts, mathematics, science, and writing.

The system will provide integrated assessment tools, real-time reporting dashboards for educators, and accessible materials, including braille, to support diverse learners.

Pearson said the contract strengthens its position as a leading assessment provider in the U.S., leveraging its extensive experience in delivering large-scale testing programs and data-driven educational insights.
Pearson and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced a multi-year partnership to deliver AI-powered learning and assessment solutions aimed at helping enterprises build future-ready workforces. The collaboration combines Pearson’s expertise in learning and assessment with TCS’s capabilities in contextual AI and its iON digital platform.

The partnership will focus on integrating AI-driven learning into enterprise workflows, co-developing new AI-enabled products, and enhancing workforce readiness through tools such as Pearson’s English proficiency assessments. It also aims to create end-to-end talent development systems, enabling organizations to identify skill gaps and build verified talent pipelines.

The initiative reflects growing demand for AI-related upskilling, with both companies targeting improved productivity and workforce adaptability as businesses increasingly adopt artificial intelligence technologies.
Pearson and Adobe launch first professional certification for Adobe Firefly

Feb. 24, 2026 — Pearson plc and Adobe Inc. have introduced the first professional certification for Adobe Firefly, aimed at validating generative AI skills in creative workflows.

The new “Product & Experience Design with AI Using Adobe Firefly” certification is designed for creative professionals, educators and students, covering prompt engineering, ethical AI use and practical application of Firefly tools. The exam, developed by Pearson and delivered through its Certiport platform, is available globally and leads to an Adobe Certified Professional digital badge via Credly.

The launch follows growing adoption of generative AI in the creative economy, with Adobe reporting that 86% of global creators now use such tools. The companies said the certification provides employers with a trusted benchmark for job-ready generative AI skills and supports responsible AI integration into creative industries.
Pearson and Giunti Psychometrics have signed an exclusive agreement to expand access to Spanish-language clinical assessments across Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America.

Pearson says artificial intelligence will not deliver meaningful productivity gains unless it is paired with large-scale workforce learning, according to new research released on Sunday at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The report, published by Pearson, estimates that combining AI adoption with continuous upskilling could add between $4.8 trillion and $6.6 trillion to the U.S. economy by 2034, equivalent to roughly 15 percent of current GDP at the upper end.

The study finds that while companies are investing heavily in AI, tangible productivity gains outside software development remain limited, largely because workers lack the skills to use AI effectively. Pearson argues that focusing on augmenting jobs rather than replacing employees, and embedding learning directly into daily work, is critical to closing this “learning gap” and achieving a return on AI investments. The report proposes a new framework that prioritizes diagnosing task-level AI use, integrating learning into workflows, measuring skills progress, and treating learning as a strategic investment, warning that failure to address skills shortages could leave both workers and businesses behind as AI adoption accelerates.

IBM and Pearson have announced a global partnership to develop new AI-powered learning products aimed at businesses, public organizations, and educational institutions worldwide. The collaboration responds to growing skills mismatches and inefficient career transitions, which Pearson estimates cost the US economy $1.1 trillion annually, as organizations and individuals seek faster, more relevant ways to reskill in an AI-driven economy.

The partners will build personalized learning tools using IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate and watsonx Governance, and IBM will support Pearson in creating a custom AI-powered learning platform that combines human expertise with AI assistants and agents. As part of the agreement, IBM becomes Pearson’s primary strategic partner for customer upskilling and workforce transformation, giving IBM customers and employees access to Pearson solutions such as Credly digital credentials, Faethm workforce planning, and professional certification assessments.

IBM and Pearson will also explore tools to verify and govern AI agents, combining IBM’s responsible AI capabilities with Pearson’s expertise in skills and credentials. Both companies said the partnership supports Pearson’s strategy of deeper alliances with select partners and aims to embed learning directly into the flow of work, improving productivity, adaptability, and long-term workforce resilience.
