Bell Canada launched CyberShield Connect, a fully managed cybersecurity service for small and medium-sized businesses in Canada.

The solution, developed with WatchGuard Technologies, provides cloud-managed security, automated deployment and continuous monitoring through a centralized security operations centre.

Bell said the service is designed to give SMEs access to enterprise-level cybersecurity while reducing the complexity of managing security systems internally, with monitoring and support handled in Canada.

Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE) announced that its Bell Cyber unit launched CyberShield Connect, a fully managed cybersecurity service designed for Canadian small and medium-sized businesses.

The solution, powered by WatchGuard’s Unified Security Platform, combines cloud-managed security, automated deployment and continuous monitoring from Bell’s security operations centers to provide enterprise-grade protection without requiring companies to manage cybersecurity internally.

Bell said the service is operated by Canadian-based security teams and supports local data-residency and regulatory requirements, offering SMEs a scalable way to strengthen cyber defenses as attacks targeting smaller organizations increase.

Bell and Coveo announced a strategic sovereign AI partnership aimed at modernizing digital services for Canadian federal and provincial governments as well as regulated industries.

The collaboration integrates the Coveo AI-Relevance platform with Bell AI Fabric, Bell’s full-stack AI infrastructure built on its nationwide fiber network, data centers, cloud capabilities and enterprise integration services. The joint offering will enable organizations to deploy secure and scalable AI solutions while ensuring that data and AI operations remain in Canada under Canadian law.

The partnership focuses on improving public services and enterprise productivity through advanced AI technologies such as semantic search, machine learning and generative AI. Bell’s technology services unit Ateko will support solution design, integration and governance to help public sector and regulated organizations adopt the platform responsibly.

BCE Inc. announced that its subsidiary Bell has been awarded a major contract to modernize contact centres for the Government of Canada using the cloud-based platform from Genesys.

The project will deploy the Genesys Cloud AI-powered experience orchestration platform to upgrade contact centre operations across several key federal departments, including Employment and Social Development Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency, and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. These agencies handle services used by millions of Canadians, including tax, benefits, and immigration enquiries.

Under the initiative, Bell will provide deployment, management, and operational support for a secure, cloud-based system hosted entirely within Canadian data centres. The platform is designed to improve service delivery through unified agent systems, enhanced data security, and AI-driven insights that help departments better manage interactions with citizens.

The modernization effort aims to create a consistent digital service platform across government agencies while supporting Canada’s data sovereignty requirements. Officials say the project represents a significant step toward improving digital access to public services and increasing efficiency in federal contact centre operations.

BCE Completes Acquisition of Ziply Fiber, Expands U.S. Presence

BCE Inc. (TSX, NYSE: BCE) has finalized its C$5.0 billion acquisition of Ziply Fiber, gaining a significant foothold in the U.S. fibre market. The deal adds 1.4 million fibre locations, making Bell the third-largest fibre internet provider in North America.

As part of a strategic partnership with PSP Investments, BCE aims to extend its reach to up to 8 million U.S. locations through Ziply. Ziply will continue to operate independently from its headquarters in Kirkland, Washington. BCE will update its 2025 financial guidance following the acquisition in its Q2 earnings on August 7.

BCE Sells Stake in MLSE to Fund U.S. Expansion with Ziply Fiber Acquisition

BCE Inc. has completed the sale of its minority stake in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) to Rogers Communications for CA$4.7 billion. The proceeds, net of taxes ($4.2 billion), will help finance BCE’s acquisition of Ziply Fiber, a leading fiber internet provider in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. As part of its growth strategy, BCE and PSP Investments aim to reach up to 8 million U.S. fiber locations through their Network FiberCo venture. BCE has also secured long-term media rights for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors on TSN through the 2043/44 season. The sale strengthens BCE’s core telecom operations while maintaining its position in Canadian sports media.
