Aurora Innovation Stock Rises 3.4% as Morgan Stanley Reiterates Overweight Rating

Aurora Innovation shares rose 3.4% to $6.55 on Friday as Morgan Stanley reiterated its Overweight rating on the autonomous trucking technology company.

Morgan Stanley analyst Ravi Shanker maintained an $18 price target on Aurora. Based on the stock’s current price of $6.55, the target implies potential upside of roughly 175%.

The reiterated bullish rating indicates Morgan Stanley continues to see substantial long-term upside in Aurora despite the significant gap between its current share price and the firm’s target.

Aurora shares remain sensitive to progress in autonomous trucking commercialization, fleet expansion and the company’s ability to scale driverless operations.

Aurora Launches First Commercial Driverless Trucking Service in U.S. with Texas Rollout

Aurora Innovation (NASDAQ: AUR) has officially launched its fully driverless commercial trucking service in Texas, making it the first company in the U.S. to operate autonomous heavy-duty trucks on public roads. The inaugural driverless trips are now running regularly between Dallas and Houston, following the successful closure of the company’s safety case. Aurora’s trucks, equipped with its Aurora Driver SAE Level 4 autonomous system, have already completed over 1,200 driverless miles.

Aurora plans to expand the driverless routes to El Paso and Phoenix by the end of 2025.

Launch customers include Uber Freight and Hirschbach Motor Lines, both of which previously participated in Aurora’s supervised commercial pilots. Aurora CEO Chris Urmson emphasized the transformative impact of the technology on freight logistics, citing improvements in efficiency, safety, and supply chain resilience.

The company’s safety framework has earned support from federal and Texas state agencies. Texas Governor Greg Abbott praised the launch as a sign of Texas' leadership in innovation and logistics modernization.

Aurora's driverless trucks feature a custom hardware kit and redundant safety systems. The vehicles rely on Verifiable AI, a framework designed to ensure safe, predictable behavior under complex driving conditions.

Aurora is targeting scaled deployment through manufacturing partnerships and plans to provide further updates during its upcoming Q1 business review webcast.
