Agilent Launches Compact Cary 635 FTIR Spectrometer for Laboratory Analysis

Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) announced Tuesday the launch of the Cary 635 FTIR spectrometer, a compact analytical system designed to improve laboratory efficiency while reducing space, training and maintenance requirements.

The Cary 635 uses Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy to analyze solids, liquids, powders and gases. Agilent describes the system as the smallest FTIR instrument in its class, allowing laboratories to deploy it in space-constrained environments or at different points within analytical workflows.

The system incorporates solid ZnSe optical components for improved moisture resistance and durability, while enhanced sensitivity allows lower-concentration samples to be analyzed using smaller sample volumes. A nondynamic interferometer and permanently aligned optics are designed to improve reliability and simplify maintenance.

Agilent has also emphasized ease of use. Its MicroLab software provides step-by-step, picture-guided workflows and color-coded results, allowing less-experienced laboratory personnel to operate the instrument with limited training. The optional DialPath module further simplifies liquid analysis while reducing consumables, cleaning requirements and sample volumes.

The launch expands Agilent’s spectroscopy portfolio as laboratories increasingly seek instruments that combine analytical performance with automation, smaller footprints and lower operating costs. The Cary 635 could strengthen Agilent’s position across pharmaceutical, chemical, materials and other laboratory markets where FTIR analysis is routinely used for identification and quality control.

The partnership will combine automation and AI to enable large-scale biological data analysis and accelerate biomarker discovery and drug development.

Agilent Technologies announced it will showcase its latest advancements in precision oncology and digital pathology at the USCAP 2026 Annual Meeting in San Antonio.

The company will highlight expanded biomarker testing capabilities, including a new PD-L1 indication for ovarian-related cancers, reinforcing its focus on precision oncology. Agilent will also present end-to-end digital pathology workflows that integrate staining, imaging, and data management to improve laboratory efficiency, reproducibility, and scalability.

Additionally, Agilent emphasized collaborations with ecosystem partners such as Hamamatsu, Proscia, PathAI, and Visiopharm to support interoperable and flexible digital pathology solutions, positioning the company to advance data-driven and fully integrated pathology environments.
Agilent Technologies (A) announced the launch of Agilent Advanced Therapeutics, a unified contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) platform integrating its capabilities across Canada and the United States.

The new platform combines the strengths of BIOVECTRA in Canada and Agilent’s Nucleic Acid Solutions facility in Colorado to provide end-to-end development and manufacturing services for advanced therapeutics.

The offering includes manufacturing and development capabilities for oligonucleotides, microbial fermentation, synthetic chemistry, bioreagents, highly potent APIs and cell line development, enabling customers to move from early discovery through clinical and commercial production with a single partner.
Agilent Technologies announced it has agreed to acquire pathology solutions company Biocare Medical in an all-cash deal valued at $950 million.

Biocare specializes in clinical and research pathology tools, including immunohistochemistry (IHC), in situ hybridization (ISH), and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) solutions, and offers more than 300 specialized antibodies used in cancer diagnostics. The company generated more than $90 million in revenue in 2025 and has recorded double-digit revenue and profit growth since 2021.

Agilent said the acquisition will expand its pathology and cancer diagnostics portfolio, strengthen its antibody and reagent offerings, and enhance its ability to serve clinical and research laboratories. The transaction is expected to improve Agilent’s growth rate, margins and recurring non-instrument revenue mix, with earnings per share expected to benefit about 12 months after closing. The deal is expected to close by Agilent’s fourth fiscal quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
Agilent Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: A) reported first-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue of $1.80 billion, up 7.0% year over year on a reported basis and 4.4% on a core basis.

GAAP net income was $305 million, or $1.07 per share, down 4% from $1.11 per share a year earlier. Non-GAAP net income increased to $386 million, with non-GAAP EPS of $1.36, up 4% from $1.31 in the prior-year quarter.

Segment performance showed mixed but steady growth. The Life Sciences and Diagnostics Markets Group generated $679 million in revenue, up 5% reported and 3% core, with a 16.0% operating margin. The Agilent CrossLab Group posted $758 million in revenue, up 9% reported and 6% core, with a 31.6% operating margin. The Applied Markets Group delivered $361 million in revenue, rising 7% reported and 4% core, with a 25.8% operating margin.

For fiscal 2026, Agilent raised its reported revenue outlook to $7.3 billion to $7.5 billion, representing 5.5% to 7.5% reported growth and 4% to 6% core growth. Non-GAAP EPS is now expected between $5.90 and $6.04. Second-quarter revenue is projected at $1.79 billion to $1.82 billion, with non-GAAP EPS of $1.39 to $1.42.

Management cited resilient demand, momentum in the instrument-replacement cycle and strong Enterprise Services engagement, while noting weather-related disruption late in the quarter that modestly impacted results.

Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) has named Boehringer Ingelheim the winner of its inaugural 2025 Instrument Trade-In Impact Award, recognizing leadership in sustainable laboratory practices.

The award honors the partner achieving the highest sustainability impact through Agilent’s trade-in and buyback program, which diverts end-of-life laboratory instruments from landfill and supports circular reuse. In 2025, Boehringer Ingelheim led all partners in responsible trade-in activity, diverting 6,600 kg of instrument waste from landfill and ensuring instruments were reused, refurbished, or properly recycled.

Agilent said the award underscores its broader commitment to advancing circular economy practices through reuse pathways, energy-efficient technologies and waste reduction programs.

Agilent Technologies and Virscidian announced an expanded collaboration to improve interoperability between Agilent OpenLab CDS and Virscidian Analytical Studio, aiming to streamline access to chromatography data and automate high-throughput analytical workflows. The partnership will introduce an integrated API enabling real-time data sharing and communication between the two platforms, reducing manual steps and improving efficiency for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical research, particularly in drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, and purification processes. The companies said the integration will give scientists greater flexibility, faster workflows, and unrestricted use of their analytical data.
