Lowe’s Launches “One Million Thank Yous” Campaign to Honor Disaster Responders*
Lowe’s is rallying communities across the United States to help express gratitude to first responders, volunteers, and nonprofits aiding in disaster recovery. With the symbolic reopening of its East Asheville, North Carolina store—previously damaged by Hurricane Helene—the company has launched its #BuildThanks initiative, aiming to collect one million thank-you messages by May 2.
The campaign pays tribute to those who have helped rebuild communities affected by natural disasters, including recent flooding, tornadoes, and wildfires. Joe Strong, store manager of Lowe’s East Asheville, emphasized the depth of appreciation for these everyday heroes. “We’re hoping that by launching one million thank yous... we might capture the depth of our collective gratitude,” he said.
Lowe’s invites the public to participate by posting messages of appreciation on social media using #BuildThanks, or by sending thank-you posters and notes to its East Asheville location. The culmination of the campaign will be showcased on Lowe’s social channels on May 3.
This effort aligns with Lowe’s broader disaster relief commitment. The company recently invested $14 million in hurricane recovery and $2 million in wildfire relief. Lowe’s, which operates more than 1,700 stores and employs approximately 300,000 associates, remains dedicated to aiding communities through housing, community development, skilled trade support, and emergency response.
