Cameco Donates $10 Million to University of Saskatchewan to Advance Nuclear Research, Education, and Northern Inclusion
Cameco has announced a transformative $10 million gift to the University of Saskatchewan (USask), marking the largest single donation in the company’s history. The contribution supports USask’s “Be What the World Needs” campaign, aimed at raising $500 million for cutting-edge research, academic programming, and student initiatives.
The donation will fund new programs in nuclear fuel cycle studies and energy/resource management, enhance STEM opportunities for northern and Indigenous students, and advance innovation through a mining and nuclear energy technology accelerator. It will also support research through the Global Institute for Energy, Minerals and Society (GIEMS), a joint venture with the University of Regina and Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
This gift brings Cameco’s total giving to USask to $18.5 million and strengthens Saskatchewan’s position as a leader in sustainable energy and mining innovation.
