U.S. Stocks Climb as AI Earnings Momentum and Strong Economic Data Offset Geopolitical Uncertainty

U.S. stocks moved higher on Tuesday, with technology shares once again leading the market as investors welcomed another round of strong AI-relase earnings, upbeat economic data and easing concerns over the U.S.-Iran conflict.

The Nasdaq gained 1.38%, outperforming the broader market, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.99% and the S&P 500 advanced 0.72%. The rally reflected continued confidence in artificial intelligence spending and corporate earnings despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.

AI Optimism Strengthens After Palantir's Strong Results

Technology stocks received another boost after Palantir reported exceptional quarterly results that reinforced optimism surrounding enterprise AI adoption. The company posted a 93% year-over-year increase in revenue, raised its full-year guidance and highlighted accelerating demand from both government and commercial customers. Shares surged following the report, extending the positive sentiment that has supported AI-related stocks throughout the earnings season.

The upbeat results added to investor confidence after last week's strong earnings from major technology companies, reinforcing expectations that AI investment remains one of the strongest themes driving corporate growth.

Manufacturing Data Signals Continued Economic Strength

Economic data also supported the market. The ISM Manufacturing PMI climbed to 55.6 in July from 53.3, well above expectations of 54.0 and marking the strongest expansion in the manufacturing sector in several years. The S&P Global Manufacturing PMI also remained solid at 53.9, while the ISM Prices Index eased to 71.1 from 73.0, suggesting inflationary pressures continued to moderate even as factory activity accelerated.

Lower Oil Prices Improve Market Sentiment

Investor confidence was further boosted by reports that diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran continue to make progress, reducing fears of prolonged supply disruptions in the Middle East. The resulting decline in crude oil prices eased inflation concerns and supported sectors such as technology, consumer discretionary and industrials, although energy shares lagged the broader market.

What to Watch

Investors will now focus on upcoming labor market data and additional corporate earnings to assess whether the current rally can continue. AI-related earnings remain a key catalyst for technology stocks, while developments in U.S.-Iran negotiations and the direction of oil prices are likely to remain important drivers of broader market sentiment.
