*Borderlands 4*, the latest installment in the iconic looter-shooter series by Gearbox Software and 2K, was unveiled with new gameplay during PlayStation’s State of Play on April 30, 2025.

Launching September 12, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), the game will also be available on Nintendo Switch 2 later in the year.

The preview revealed two of four new Vault Hunters: Vex the Siren and Rafa the Exo-Soldier, each bringing distinct combat styles and advanced skill trees. Set on the planet Kairos, players will battle the villainous Timekeeper and his army across four diverse regions, supported by an overhauled gear system featuring enhanced weapons, gear augmentation, and co-op-friendly mechanics.

Borderlands 4 emphasizes seamless multiplayer with dynamic scaling and instanced loot. The game will incorporate new tech systems such as the Licensed Parts and Ordnance slots for deeper customization. Early footage highlighted thrilling combat and the new factions and environments players will encounter.

The game is published by 2K, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive (NASDAQ: TTWO).
