Poise®, the leading brand for light bladder leak protection, launched a new initiative aimed at addressing the health care challenges faced by women in rural areas of the U.S.—often referred to as "health deserts." With 80% of U.S. counties classified as such, and only about 6% of OB-GYNs practicing in those regions, millions of women entering perimenopause and menopause each year are left with limited access to essential gynecologic care and health information.
To spotlight these issues, Poise released a documentary film, directed by Oscar and Emmy nominee Sara Nesson, that follows women in rural communities as they share their personal struggles with accessing menopause-related health care. The film is available at Poise.com/dropsofhope.
In a groundbreaking research collaboration, Poise is also exploring the possibility of using dry urine extracted from absorbent materials in pads to test for health indicators related to perimenopause, menopause, UTIs, and diabetes—potentially creating new diagnostic pathways for women who face barriers to traditional medical testing.
Katie Moran, President of Adult and Feminine Care at Kimberly-Clark, emphasized the brand’s commitment to health equity, stating, “Every woman deserves access to essential health information, no matter where she lives.”
The initiative is part of Kimberly-Clark’s broader mission to support women’s health and well-being globally, aligning with its long-standing reputation for innovation and corporate responsibility.
