Garmin introduces Varia Vue: its first cycling headlight with built-in 4K camera
Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) has launched the Varia Vue, a new cycling accessory that combines a 600-lumen headlight with a front-facing 4K camera. Designed to enhance safety and visibility for cyclists, the Varia Vue automatically records and saves footage when it detects an incident.
According to Susan Lyman, Garmin’s Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing, "Varia Vue provides both increased safety and a record of your ride, giving cyclists confidence on the road."
Key features:
- 4K camera with incident detection: Records sharp, stabilized footage and saves video automatically if an incident is detected.
- Smart headlight: Offers five light modes and adjusts based on rider speed and lighting conditions when paired with compatible Garmin Edge cycling computers.
- Wi-Fi connectivity: Enables automatic uploads of saved footage to Garmin Vault (subscription required). Video can also be reviewed and edited using the Varia app.
- Battery life: Offers up to 9 hours with the headlight off, and up to 7 hours with both light and camera running. It can also be charged during use.
- Device integration: Settings can be adjusted through the Varia app or Edge cycling computers.
- Optional pairing: Works with the separately sold Varia RCT715 rear radar camera for full ride coverage.
Varia Vue is now available with a suggested retail price of $549.99. Garmin will feature the device at the Sea Otter Classic in booth #R121.
