French Consumer Prices Fall 0.3% in September, Matching Expectations
French consumer prices declined 0.3% month over month in September, matching economists’ expectations and reversing the previous month’s 0.7% increase.
The EU-harmonized HICP measure also fell 0.3% on the month, slightly better than the expected 0.4% decline and down sharply from the previous month’s 0.4% increase.
The data points to a clear monthly easing in inflation pressures in France after the stronger August readings.
