Carrier Launches New Energy-Efficient Modular Chillers in Japan
Carrier Global (NYSE: CARR) has launched new inverter modular water-cooled chillers and heat recovery chillers in Japan, expanding its portfolio of energy-efficient climate solutions for commercial and industrial facilities.
The new series builds on Carrier Japan’s Universal Smart X (USX) technology and uses inverter-driven DC triple rotary compressors with lower-global-warming-potential R32 refrigerant. The lightweight and compact design allows equipment to be transported through standard elevators, making the systems particularly suitable for renovation and retrofit projects where installation space can be limited.
Carrier also increased system flexibility and capacity. Individual modules range from 30 HP to 50 HP, while as many as 16 modules can be connected for capacity of up to 800 HP. The chillers support water temperatures between 3°C and 30°C, extending potential applications to industries including food and chemical processing.
The systems also incorporate PWM converters for harmonic suppression, modular refrigeration cycles for operational redundancy and easier maintenance, and optional variable-flow control to reduce pumping energy.
Customers using Carrier’s Abound HVAC Performance platform can additionally receive 24/7 remote monitoring, automatic detection of heat-exchanger fouling and operational alerts.
The launch strengthens Carrier’s position in energy-efficient HVAC infrastructure as buildings and industrial customers increasingly seek lower energy consumption, reduced environmental impact and easier installation and maintenance.
