# Carrier Launches All-Electric Vector 8200 Refrigeration Unit for Diesel-Free Cold Storage
Carrier Global (NYSE: CARR) introduced the Vector 8200, its first engineless transport refrigeration unit with multi-temperature capability, expanding the company's electrification offering for the cold-chain industry.
The new Carrier Transicold system is designed primarily for stationary trailer cold storage and can operate entirely from grid electricity or other external power sources, eliminating diesel-fuel consumption and direct engine emissions.
## Why the Vector 8200 Matters for Carrier
The Vector 8200 targets food shippers and refrigerated fleets that need additional cold-storage capacity during seasonal demand peaks, facility upgrades or unexpected increases in volume.
Unlike traditional diesel-powered trailer refrigeration systems, the Vector 8200 can turn refrigerated trailers into temporary electric cold-storage facilities. Its multi-temperature configuration can support trailers with one, two or three compartments, allowing fresh, frozen and deep-frozen products to be stored simultaneously.
The system delivers cooling capacity of up to 58,000 BTU per hour at 35°F, 33,500 BTU per hour at 0°F and 22,000 BTU per hour at -20°F.
Carrier also integrated its TRU-Demand E-Drive energy-management technology, which adjusts electricity consumption according to available power and helps reduce strain on facilities when multiple refrigeration units restart following an outage.
## Carrier Expands Cold-Chain Electrification
The launch strengthens Carrier's position in transport refrigeration and cold-chain electrification as customers seek to reduce fuel consumption, emissions, noise and operating costs.
The Vector 8200 also integrates Carrier's Lynx Fleet telematics platform for remote monitoring and control, alongside temperature-recording and automated temperature-management technologies.
For Carrier, the product expands its addressable market for electric refrigeration while providing fleets with an alternative to diesel-powered supplemental cold storage.
