Brent Crude Surges Nearly 8% as Trump Warns U.S. Could Strike Iran Again

Brent crude extended its rally on Wednesday, climbing nearly 8% to around $90 per barrel after U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States could launch further military strikes against Iran if Tehran continues its actions, sharply increasing fears of a broader conflict in the Middle East.

The latest comments added fresh geopolitical risk to an already tense market following recent military exchanges involving the United States, Iran, and regional allies. Investors are increasingly concerned that any further escalation could disrupt oil exports from the Persian Gulf, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint that carries roughly one-fifth of global oil shipments.

The sharp rally reflects traders rapidly pricing in a higher geopolitical risk premium rather than any immediate change in physical supply. However, markets remain highly sensitive to developments, as any disruption involving major oil producers could quickly tighten global crude supplies.

Investors will closely monitor any additional statements from Washington and Tehran, as well as developments across the Middle East. Further military escalation could push Brent toward the $90-$95 range, while signs of diplomatic de-escalation would likely remove part of the geopolitical premium currently supporting oil prices.
