Brent Crude Surges Above $87 as Iran-U.S.-Saudi Escalation Sparks Supply Fears

Brent crude climbed more than 3.5% on Wednesday to trade around *$87 per barrel*, with the rally driven primarily by escalating geopolitical tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, which have reignited concerns over potential disruptions to global oil supplies.

The sharp move higher follows reports of military actions and heightened hostilities involving Iran, the U.S., and Saudi Arabia, prompting traders to rapidly price in a larger geopolitical risk premium. Any escalation involving major oil-producing nations in the Middle East raises fears of supply interruptions, particularly through key export routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly one-fifth of the world's oil supply passes.

The gains were further supported by a backdrop of relatively tight global crude supplies and continued production discipline from OPEC+, leaving the market more vulnerable to geopolitical shocks. With spare supply remaining limited, any threat to Middle Eastern exports can have an outsized impact on oil prices.

Investors will continue monitoring developments involving Iran, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, as further escalation could push crude prices even higher. Conversely, any signs of de-escalation or diplomatic progress could quickly reduce the geopolitical premium that has driven Brent's latest rally.
