Brent Crude Falls as U.S.-Iran De-escalation Eases Supply Concerns

Brent crude oil fell on Monday, retreating toward $85 per barrel as investors reduced the geopolitical risk premium after the United States halted its military attacks on Iran, easing immediate concerns over potential supply disruptions in the Middle East.

Oil prices had rallied sharply over the previous week, briefly climbing above $90 per barrel as markets priced in the possibility of a broader regional conflict that could threaten crude production and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. However, with Washington suspending its attacks and no major disruption to oil flows materializing, traders moved to unwind part of that geopolitical premium.

Despite Monday’s pullback, oil prices remain elevated compared with levels seen before the recent escalation in Middle East tensions, reflecting that geopolitical risks have not disappeared entirely. Traders continue to monitor developments involving Iran, Israel, and the United States for any signs that tensions could flare up again.

Looking ahead, Brent crude is expected to remain sensitive to both geopolitical headlines and macroeconomic data. Investors will also watch OPEC+ production policy, U.S. inventory reports, and global demand indicators for further direction in the energy market.
