Union Pacific Railroad hosted US Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer at its Training Center and Harriman Dispatching Center in Omaha as part of her nationwide “America at Work” listening tour focused on job creation and workforce development. During the visit, the secretary observed Union Pacific’s advanced training programs and discussed workforce growth tied to the proposed Union Pacific–Norfolk Southern merger, which the companies estimate could create about 900 net new union jobs. The visit highlighted the railroad’s investment in safety, skills development, and its role in supporting the U.S. supply chain, and concluded with a presentation of Union Pacific’s new commemorative locomotive honoring Abraham Lincoln.
