IBM announced it will invest $150 billion in America over the next five years to strengthen its leadership in computing and support the economy. This includes more than $30 billion dedicated to research and development for advancing and manufacturing mainframe and quantum computers in the United States.
Arvind Krishna, IBM’s chairman, president, and CEO, emphasized the company's long-standing commitment to American jobs and innovation. IBM’s mainframes, which support over 70% of global transaction value, are manufactured in Poughkeepsie, New York. The company also operates the world’s largest fleet of quantum computers and will continue building them domestically.
IBM highlighted the potential of quantum computing to drive economic growth, job creation, and national security. Through its Quantum Network, IBM provides quantum system access to nearly 300 major organizations and over 600,000 users worldwide.
This investment reaffirms IBM’s dedication to advancing American innovation and boosting economic opportunities both in the United States and globally.
