L3Harris expands Indiana facility to support missile defense
L3Harris Technologies has completed a $125 million expansion of its Fort Wayne, Indiana facility. The 95,000-square-foot site will support the Department of Defense’s missile defense programs as part of efforts to build a “Golden Dome” defense shield over the U.S.
The expansion will boost production of on-orbit technology, enabling L3Harris to produce up to 48 payloads annually. The facility will support engineering, integration, testing, and program management for satellite-based defense systems.
The investment supports ongoing work for the Space Development Agency and the Missile Defense Agency, including 34 satellites in progress and 5 already on orbit. The facility also contributes to civil weather satellite programs.
The project is expected to create jobs and strengthen the local economy while advancing national security goals.
