L3Harris Completes Key Review for Upgraded Space Force Satellite Disruption System
L3Harris Technologies announced it has successfully passed the System Verification Review (SVR) for the U.S. Space Force’s upgraded Counter Communications System (CCS), codenamed Meadowlands. This milestone confirms that the new system meets performance requirements and is ready for operational deployment.
Meadowlands represents the latest evolution in U.S. space control technology. Designed to disrupt adversarial satellite communications, it uses ground-based radio frequency units to deny hostile forces access to space-based assets. Compared to previous versions, the Meadowlands upgrade is more compact, transportable, and cost-effective.
Andy Builta, Vice President and General Manager of Surveillance Systems at L3Harris, emphasized the strategic importance of this technology. “Our adversaries are more capable and dangerous than ever before. Denying our enemies the ability to use space assets is crucial to protect U.S. military operations and warfighters,” he said.
Meadowlands features a more open software architecture, making future updates easier and faster. It offers enhanced automation and greater jamming efficiency, improving the Space Force’s ability to counter evolving threats in real time. The upgrade builds on the CCS program that achieved Initial Operating Capability in March 2020.
The SVR, held at L3Harris' Palm Bay facility, included testing, demonstrations, and performance analyses. It focused on ensuring robust operational execution and reducing overall program risk.
Meadowlands is part of L3Harris’ broader portfolio supporting U.S. Space Force space superiority and electronic warfare capabilities. The system will help ensure U.S. forces maintain control of the electromagnetic spectrum and deny that advantage to adversaries.
