IHG unveils strategic overhaul of upper-midscale brands in Greater China
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a comprehensive upgrade of its upper-midscale portfolio in Greater China, including Atwell Suites, EVEN Hotels, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express. The strategy aims to offer hotel owners higher efficiency and profitability through improved investment structures and refreshed brand standards.
Kent Sun, Chief Development Officer for IHG Greater China, emphasized the growing demand for smart investment models in a market where the upper-midscale segment is expected to double over the next decade. The upgraded brands cater to different market needs and guest preferences while delivering consistent quality and value.
To support the rollout, IHG is introducing a four-dimensional empowerment model: cost-efficient construction, smart operations, revenue growth, and procurement support. This includes resources such as the IHG Design & Innovation Lab, AI-driven operations, loyalty-driven marketing, and transparent procurement tools.
The company will also refresh the branding and guest experience for EVEN Hotels, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express. Atwell Suites will launch in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou this year.
IHG is offering three operating models — Managed, Franchise, and Franchise+ — tailored to local business needs. This strategic move reinforces IHG's leadership in China's upper-midscale hotel market.
