Autodesk Backs AI-Powered Permitting and Pre-Approved Home Designs to Accelerate LA Wildfire Recovery

Autodesk (NASDAQ: ADSK) announced new technology and funding initiatives to support wildfire recovery in Los Angeles following January’s devastating fires. The company is partnering with The Foothill Catalog Foundation (TFCF) to develop a modular, pre-approved home design catalog that could cut architectural and permitting costs for fire survivors by up to 95% and reduce approval times from months to weeks.

Autodesk is also funding an AI-powered tool to expedite building permit approvals, in collaboration with the State of California, LA Rises, and other partners. The initiative aims to create climate-resilient housing across fire-affected communities.
TFCF is working with volunteers and students to design homes that meet strict sustainability and disaster-resilience standards. Autodesk's software, including Revit and its AEC Collection tools, is being used to standardize templates and support collaborative design efforts.

Autodesk CEO Andrew Anagnost emphasized the initiative’s potential as a scalable model for global recovery efforts. The move aligns with Autodesk’s broader goal of sustainable design and manufacturing and reflects its expanding role in community resilience efforts.
