Monster Beverage Corporation Rebukes Short Seller Report, Affirms Ethical Standards and Financial Integrity
Monster Beverage Corporation (NASDAQ: MNST) issued a strong rebuttal today in response to a report published by short-selling firm Spruce Point Capital Management. The company labeled the report—which was released on April 8—as misleading and inaccurate, accusing the activist investor of attempting to manipulate Monster’s stock price for financial gain.
In a joint statement, Co-CEOs Rodney Sacks and Hilton Schlosberg denounced the report’s claims, emphasizing Monster's longstanding commitment to ethical operations and transparent financial reporting. “The document... is filled with and based on inaccuracies and aspersions,” they said, underscoring that the company’s financial statements continue to comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and SEC regulations.
Lead Independent Director Mark Vidergauz reiterated the Board’s full confidence in the management team and affirmed the company’s strategic direction, describing Monster as “well-positioned for long-term success.”
Monster stated it does not plan to respond further to the report and maintains that the claims lack credibility.
The company, based in Corona, California, develops and markets a broad range of energy drinks and related beverages under numerous brands including Monster Energy®, Reign®, Bang®, Full Throttle®, and NOS®, among others.
