PPL Edges 0.4% Higher as Q3 Earnings Rise and Long-Term Growth Outlook Improves

PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL) shares rose about 0.4% after the utility reported higher third-quarter earnings, introduced its 2027 outlook and increased its long-term earnings growth target.

Third-quarter ongoing EPS rose to $0.54 from $0.48 a year earlier, while GAAP EPS increased to $0.49 from $0.43.

PPL narrowed its 2026 ongoing EPS guidance to $1.92-$1.96, maintaining the midpoint at $1.94. For 2027, the company expects EPS of $2.06-$2.14, with the $2.10 midpoint representing 8.2% growth from the 2026 midpoint.

The company also raised its long-term EPS growth target to 7%-9% annually through at least 2030, up from 6%-8% previously, supported by a $25 billion capital plan and projected 10% annual rate-base growth.

Additional upside could come from data center-driven power demand. PPL identified $12-$16 billion of potential generation investment through 2032 and announced terms to provide approximately 2 GW of generation capacity for a QTS data center project in Pennsylvania.

The modest share gain appears to reflect stronger long-term growth visibility and rising data center-related investment opportunities, balanced against the significant capital and equity financing requirements associated with the expanded plan.
