Cardinal Health Jumps 6% as Q1 Profit Surges and FY27 EPS Outlook Rises

Cardinal Health (NYSE: CAH) shares rose about 6% after the company reported strong fiscal first-quarter profit growth and raised its full-year 2027 earnings outlook.

Revenue increased 5% year over year to $67.5 billion, while non-GAAP operating earnings rose 17% to $1.0 billion. Adjusted EPS jumped 28% to $3.26.

The Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions segment remained the main growth driver, with revenue up 6% to $62.6 billion and segment profit rising 17% to $783 million. Growth was supported by brand and specialty pharmaceuticals and stronger generics performance.

Cardinal Health raised fiscal 2027 adjusted EPS guidance to $12.80-$13.00 from $12.40-$12.60. It also increased its expected profit growth range for Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions to 10%-12%.

The company completed a $500 million share repurchase program during the quarter, while a lower expected tax rate and reduced share count also support the higher earnings outlook.

The 6% share gain appears to reflect stronger-than-expected earnings momentum, improved segment guidance and the sizable increase to full-year EPS expectations.
