L3Harris Highlights Hunterwater Unmanned Minehunting System
L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) highlighted Hunterwater, an unmanned surface vehicle designed to autonomously search for, identify and neutralize underwater mines without exposing sailors or divers to minefields.
Hunterwater combines an onboard robotic kit with ROVSCAN, which pairs remotely operated vehicle mobility with sidescan sonar detection. After a threat is identified, a compact disposable acoustic-guided vehicle can autonomously re-acquire and neutralize it.
The system can operate unmanned or with a crew, travel more than five nautical miles from a host vessel and work alongside other autonomous platforms, including L3Harris’ Iver4.
L3Harris said Hunterwater is already a fielded system rather than a prototype, positioning it as a portable mine-countermeasure solution focused on reducing risk to personnel while improving speed and operational flexibility.
