Kraft Heinz Jumps 5.4% as Improved Sales Trends and Higher EPS Outlook Boost Shares

Kraft Heinz (NYSE: KHC) shares rose about 5.4% after the company reported improving sales and volume trends across its regions and raised the low end of its full-year organic sales outlook while also increasing adjusted EPS guidance.

Third-quarter net sales fell 2.0% year over year to $6.1 billion, while organic net sales declined 1.1%. Volume and mix were down 1.1%, with weakness in North America and Europe partly offset by growth in Emerging Markets.

Profitability remained under pressure. Adjusted operating income fell 15.2% to $0.9 billion, primarily due to procurement and logistics inflation, higher variable compensation, weaker volume/mix and increased advertising spending. Adjusted EPS declined 13.1% to $0.53.

Despite the lower quarterly earnings, management said market share, sales and volume trends improved across every region compared with last year. The company also highlighted progress in its U.S. turnaround and international growth strategy.

Kraft Heinz narrowed its 2026 organic net sales outlook to a decline of 0.5% to 1.25%, compared with the prior range of down 0.5% to 2.0%. Adjusted EPS guidance was raised to $2.07-$2.13 from $2.03-$2.09.

The company maintained its expectation for constant-currency adjusted operating income to decline 16%-18%, reflecting continued inflationary pressures and approximately $700 million of incremental investment compared with 2025.

Cash generation remained relatively solid, with year-to-date free cash flow of $2.4 billion and free cash flow conversion of 120%. Kraft Heinz has returned $1.4 billion to shareholders through dividends so far this year.

The 5.4% share gain appears to reflect improving underlying sales trends and the upward revision to EPS guidance rather than the headline decline in quarterly earnings. Investors may be focusing on signs that the company’s U.S. turnaround is gaining traction and that volume deterioration is beginning to moderate.
