Eaton Rises 3.3% as Record Orders, Backlog and Organic Growth Drive Strong Q3
Eaton (NYSE: ETN) shares rose about 3.3% after the company reported record third-quarter 2026 sales, accelerating order growth and stronger-than-expected organic growth across its electrical businesses.
Quarterly sales increased 28% year over year to a record $8.9 billion, including 19% organic growth, 8% from acquisitions and 1% from foreign exchange. Adjusted EPS reached a record $3.68, while reported EPS was $2.77.
Demand remained particularly strong in Electrical Americas and Electrical Global. Electrical Americas organic sales rose 22%, while Electrical Global organic sales increased 27%. Rolling twelve-month organic orders increased 39% in Electrical Americas and 51% in Electrical Global, with backlog up 33% and 121%, respectively.
Profitability also improved. Segment margins reached a record 25.3%, above the high end of guidance. Electrical Americas margin rose 230 basis points sequentially to 29.8%, while Electrical Global margin increased 200 basis points year over year to 21.1%.
Eaton also raised its full-year organic growth outlook to 13%-15% and expects adjusted EPS of $13.70-$13.80. Fourth-quarter organic growth is also expected at 13%-15%, with adjusted EPS of $4.05-$4.15.
The company continues to expand capacity for data center and utility demand, including its planned acquisition of COL Group in Europe.
The 3.3% gain appears to reflect the combination of record orders, strong backlog growth, margin expansion and higher organic growth guidance. The electrical businesses remain the key driver, with demand from data centers, utilities and broader power infrastructure continuing to support Eaton’s growth outlook.
