Palantir Falls 5% Premarket Despite Explosive Q3 Growth as Valuation and Expectations Overshadow Results

Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) shares fell about 5% in premarket trading despite reporting exceptionally strong third-quarter 2026 growth and raising full-year guidance above prior expectations.

Revenue surged 96% year over year to $2.31 billion and increased 20% sequentially. U.S. revenue rose 119% to $1.94 billion, while U.S. commercial revenue jumped 148% to $984 million and surpassed U.S. government revenue for the first time in company history. U.S. government revenue increased 96% to $953 million.

Profitability remained unusually strong for a company growing at this pace. GAAP operating income reached $1.08 billion, representing a 47% margin, while adjusted operating income was $1.43 billion, or a 62% margin. Adjusted free cash flow totaled $1.22 billion, equivalent to a 53% margin.

Palantir also continued to show strong deal activity, closing 212 contracts worth at least $1 million during the quarter. U.S. commercial remaining deal value increased 79% year over year to $6.52 billion.

The company raised full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $8.530-$8.534 billion and now expects U.S. commercial revenue growth of at least 143%. Adjusted operating income guidance was increased to $5.245-$5.249 billion, while adjusted free cash flow guidance rose to $4.8-$5.0 billion.

The 5% premarket decline appears to reflect the exceptionally high expectations already embedded in Palantir’s valuation rather than any obvious deterioration in fundamentals. Even with 96% revenue growth, rising margins and another guidance increase, investors may have been positioned for an even larger upside surprise. The reaction suggests that at current valuation levels, very strong results alone may not be enough to drive further gains unless growth and guidance materially exceed already aggressive expectations.
