AMD Expands Meta AI Partnership as Helios Systems Enter Deployment
AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) said it is expanding its strategic partnership with Meta across CPUs, GPUs, networking, systems and software as the two companies scale infrastructure for Meta’s AI and superintelligence workloads.
Initial AMD Helios rack-scale systems have been installed and are being tested by Meta ahead of a broader deployment. AMD EPYC processors already support Meta’s Muse AI agent, while Meta has deployed millions of EPYC CPUs across multiple generations and is a lead customer for sixth-generation EPYC processors.
AMD Instinct GPUs are also being used in production for training, ranking and recommendation workloads. Meta was an early definition customer for the MI450 architecture and plans to deploy a custom Instinct GPU optimized for its workloads. The collaboration is also influencing future AMD platforms, including the MI500 series and next-generation rack-scale systems.
On the software side, AMD and Meta are working together on ROCm, PyTorch and Triton, including optimization of large-scale AI training on MI350X GPUs. AMD also said its hardware provides Day-0 support for Meta models including Muse Spark Open and Muse Glimmer.
The companies said they are aligning future silicon, software and system roadmaps around Meta workloads, with the goal of building integrated AI infrastructure at gigawatt scale. AMD will also invest $1 billion in Meta’s equity offering.
The announcement strengthens AMD’s position as a supplier to one of the world’s largest AI infrastructure buyers and expands its role beyond individual processors into full rack-scale systems, networking and software.
