Johnson Controls Jumps 4.2% as Q4 Growth, Record Backlog and Strong Orders Boost Outlook
Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI) shares rose about 4.2% after the company reported strong fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 growth, sharp order acceleration and a record backlog heading into fiscal 2027.
Fourth-quarter sales increased 10% to $7.1 billion, while organic sales rose 12%. Adjusted EPS came in at $1.66, compared with GAAP EPS of $1.60. Adjusted net income from continuing operations reached about $1.0 billion.
Demand indicators were particularly strong. Organic orders surged 44% year over year, while backlog increased 43% organically to a record $23.0 billion, giving the company substantial revenue visibility entering the new fiscal year.
Cash generation also remained solid, with operating cash flow of $1.3 billion and adjusted free cash flow of approximately $1.1 billion. Management said fiscal 2026 delivered more than 8% organic revenue growth, double-digit adjusted EPS growth and margin expansion across all three segments.
The 4.2% gain appears to reflect investor enthusiasm over the combination of strong organic growth, accelerating orders and record backlog, which points to continued momentum into fiscal 2027.
