China Keeps Loan Prime Rates Unchanged in October

China left its benchmark lending rates unchanged in October, in line with market expectations.

The one-year Loan Prime Rate was maintained at 3.00%, matching both the 3.00% consensus forecast and the previous reading.

The five-year Loan Prime Rate, which is closely linked to mortgage pricing, was also held steady at 3.50%, unchanged from the prior month and in line with expectations.

The decision indicates that Chinese policymakers are maintaining current borrowing-cost settings for now, despite continued weakness in areas such as fixed-asset investment. With the move fully expected, the rate decision itself is unlikely to create a major market surprise.
