Humana Stock Jumps 14.5% After Medicare Star Ratings Beat Expectations

Humana shares rose about 14.5% to $443.08 after the company reported a major improvement in its 2027 Medicare Advantage Star Ratings and analysts responded with more bullish views.

Humana said 95% of its Medicare Advantage members will be enrolled in plans rated 4 stars or higher for 2027, up from 20% a year earlier. J.P. Morgan had expected roughly 60% to 70%, making the result materially stronger than anticipated (TIKR).

Plans rated 4 stars or higher generally qualify for higher Medicare quality bonus payments, and these 2027 ratings will affect bonus payments in 2028 (TIKR).

Baird upgraded Humana to Outperform from Neutral and raised its price target to $596 from $390. UBS also set a $596 target, while Barclays reiterated Overweight with a $582 target.

The stock’s sharp gain reflects the scale of the ratings improvement and the stronger earnings outlook it creates for 2028.
