Archer Aviation Stock Rises 4.9% After Barclays Upgrade and $8 Price Target
Archer Aviation shares rose about 4.9% to $4.95 after Barclays upgraded the stock to Overweight from Equal Weight and raised its price target to $8 from $4.50.
The new target implies substantial upside from recent trading levels and reflects a more constructive view of Archer’s opportunities beyond its core electric air-taxi business.
Barclays sees the broader U.S. aerospace and defense industry as being in the early stages of a new industrial investment cycle, with opportunities spanning aerospace manufacturing, defense innovation and related services (Stocktwits).
Archer’s expanding defense ambitions are also attracting attention. The company’s planned acquisition of three Boeing-related businesses could broaden its exposure to drones, autonomous aviation and defense technology. The businesses include Wisk Aero, SkyGrid and Insitu, which would add electric aircraft, autonomous air-traffic technology and unmanned surveillance capabilities to Archer’s portfolio (Stocktwits).
The stock’s gain suggests investors are increasingly viewing Archer not only as an eVTOL company but as a potentially broader aerospace, autonomous-flight and defense technology platform.
