L3Harris Invests More Than $100 Million to Expand Liquid Propulsion Production in California

L3Harris Technologies is investing more than $100 million to expand its Canoga Park facility in Los Angeles, increasing production capacity for critical defense and space propulsion programs.

The self-funded project will add nearly 35,000 square feet of manufacturing and assembly space, marking the site’s largest expansion in more than a decade. The company is also adding modern equipment, automation and new machining capacity, including nine turn mills and two 5-axis mills.

The expansion is intended to support several major programs, including increased propulsion production for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system, RS-25 engines used on NASA’s Space Launch System, and the Attitude Control System for the Missile Defense Agency’s Next Generation Interceptor.

L3Harris said the Canoga Park investment supports its broader effort to scale propulsion manufacturing in response to rising defense and space demand. The company is investing billions of dollars across propulsion sites in Alabama, Arkansas, California and Virginia, including construction of about 60 facilities and more than one million square feet of additional manufacturing space.

For L3Harris, the project strengthens capacity in a high-priority segment tied to missile defense, strategic space programs and growing U.S. demand for faster production of critical propulsion systems.
