Nucor Expands Indiana Utility Structures Facility With $105 Million Investment
Nucor announced a $105 million expansion of its Towers & Structures facility in Crawfordsville, Indiana, as the company responds to growing demand from the U.S. utility market.
The project will add more than 120,000 square feet of manufacturing space and increase capacity for utility poles and related products used in power transmission and distribution infrastructure. The expansion is also expected to create 100 new jobs with average annual wages of $87,500.
Nucor said utilities across the U.S. are increasing investment in grid modernization and new electricity infrastructure, creating stronger demand for transmission and distribution equipment. The company plans to add advanced automation, modern production equipment and updated manufacturing technologies to improve capacity, efficiency and product quality.
The Crawfordsville facility currently employs 328 people. Nucor has also expanded its Towers & Structures business through facilities in Pennsylvania and Alabama, while another plant is under construction in Utah.
The investment strengthens Nucor’s exposure to a growing infrastructure market tied to grid upgrades and rising electricity demand, while expanding its downstream steel products business beyond traditional construction and manufacturing end markets.
