Atlassian Launches Forward Deployed Engineering Program to Accelerate Enterprise AI Adoption

Atlassian (NASDAQ: TEAM) launched a new Forward Deployed Engineering program that embeds senior applied AI engineers directly with enterprise customers to turn AI experiments into production-ready workflows and measurable business outcomes.

The program focuses on building custom Rovo agents, automating workflows, improving organizational context within Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph and connecting systems such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub and Google Drive. Atlassian said customers working with Forward Deployed Engineers are seeing roughly 50% higher AI adoption.

The company argues that enterprise AI performance increasingly depends on context rather than simply access to large language models. In Atlassian testing, grounding agents in the Teamwork Graph improved answer quality by 44% while reducing token usage by 48%.

Early customer deployments include Expedia, which used the program to archive 600,000 Confluence pages and save about 3,200 hours annually. Expedia’s engineering teams are also running more than 10,000 agent invocations per month across 50 live projects. Reddit is separately working with Atlassian on AI-powered enterprise knowledge and IT operations.

Forward Deployed Engineering engagements typically run for 12 weeks and can include custom AI agents, search and connector implementations, Jira workflow automation, Confluence content operations and enterprise AI rollout support.

The launch strengthens Atlassian’s push to position Rovo and Teamwork Graph as core enterprise AI infrastructure, while using deeply embedded engineering teams to accelerate adoption and feed reusable agents, connectors and product improvements back into its broader platform.
