UPS Hires 100,000 Seasonal Workers as It Prepares for 2026 Holiday Shipping Peak

UPS (NYSE: UPS) said it is hiring 100,000 seasonal employees across the U.S. as the company prepares for the 2026 holiday shipping season and targets a ninth consecutive peak season of industry-leading on-time performance.

The logistics company is also expanding technology and service capabilities ahead of the busiest shipping period of the year. UPS expects to deliver more than 4 billion RFID-enabled packages by the end of 2026, using the technology to provide more precise real-time tracking as shipments move through its network.

UPS is introducing a new Protected Delivery service for eligible shipments that requires recipients to provide a PIN before a package is released. The feature is aimed at improving security for high-value and sensitive deliveries.

Other holiday-season enhancements include greater pickup visibility, expanded returns through Happy Returns, additional same-day and large-item delivery options through Roadie, and increased automation at facilities in Denver, St. Paul, Syracuse and Portland.

UPS said its seasonal hiring will span hundreds of locations nationwide, with flexible shifts and the possibility of permanent employment. The company noted that some applicants can receive a job offer in less than seven minutes.

The holiday preparations highlight UPS’s focus on combining automation, tracking technology and temporary workforce expansion to maintain service levels during the year’s highest-volume shipping period.
