PPG Invests $70 Million to Expand Aerospace Transparencies Operations in Alabama
PPG (NYSE: PPG) announced a $70 million investment to expand its aerospace transparencies operations in Huntsville, Alabama, as the company responds to growing demand across commercial, military and general aviation markets.
The project includes the lease and build-out of a new 112,000-square-foot facility that will house production support functions. By relocating those activities, PPG plans to create additional manufacturing space at its existing Huntsville transparencies facility.
The expansion is aimed at increasing production capacity for aircraft cockpit and passenger windows while also improving operational efficiency and creating room for future equipment investments.
PPG said demand for aerospace transparencies continues to grow across multiple aviation end markets, making the Huntsville expansion part of a broader series of multi-year investments in the business.
The company has operated its aerospace transparencies manufacturing facility in Huntsville for more than 55 years. PPG’s aerospace business also supplies coatings, sealants, engineered materials and related services to commercial, regional, general aviation and military customers worldwide.
The investment highlights PPG’s continued focus on aerospace as a growth area and positions the Huntsville operation to support higher production volumes over the coming years.
