Agilent Expands Oligonucleotide Manufacturing Capacity With New Boulder Lab
Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) announced the opening of additional laboratory space in Boulder, Colorado, to expand its oligonucleotide manufacturing capabilities and support emerging production technologies for advanced therapeutics.
The new facility will initially focus on enzymatic ligation, a process that uses enzymes to join shorter oligonucleotide fragments into longer therapeutic molecules. Agilent said the approach could complement traditional solid-phase phosphoramidite synthesis and provide greater flexibility depending on a program’s scale and technical requirements.
Through its Advanced Therapeutics Division, Agilent provides development and cGMP manufacturing services for oligonucleotide therapies, including siRNA and antisense oligonucleotides. The Boulder expansion will complement the company’s existing operations in Colorado and broader manufacturing capabilities in Canada.
Agilent expects initial customer programs to begin at the new laboratory in November 2026, subject to operational and regulatory requirements.
The expansion strengthens Agilent’s position in the growing oligonucleotide therapeutics market as drug developers seek more scalable and flexible manufacturing methods for next-generation RNA-based treatments.
