Abbott (NYSE: ABT) said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved new capabilities for its CardioMEMS HF System, allowing patients to view pulmonary artery pressure readings and receive personalized treatment updates through the CardioGuide HF App.
The update gives U.S. CardioMEMS patients direct access to their pulmonary artery pressure trends on smartphones. Rising pressure can indicate worsening heart failure weeks before symptoms such as shortness of breath or swelling appear, giving clinicians an opportunity to adjust treatment earlier.
Abbott also received approval for Dynamic Treatment Plan, a feature that lets care teams send individualized medication adjustment instructions to patients through the app based on changes in pulmonary artery pressure.
The company said the new tools are designed to strengthen remote heart failure management by keeping patients and clinicians more closely connected between office visits.
Abbott plans to make the CardioGuide HF App and Dynamic Treatment Plan available later in 2026.
