General Mills Names Dana McNabb as CEO Effective January 2027

General Mills announced that its board has unanimously elected Chief Operating Officer Dana McNabb to become chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2027.

McNabb will succeed Jeff Harmening, who will transition to executive chair of the board. The company said the appointments follow a multi-year succession planning process.

McNabb has spent 27 years at General Mills and currently oversees all four operating segments as well as major functions including sales, supply chain, innovation, technology and quality. She previously served as Group President of North America Retail, Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, Group President of Europe & Australia and President of the U.S. Cereal business.

As CEO, McNabb said her priority will be returning General Mills to profitable growth. She highlighted digitally enabled demand generation and supply-chain modernization as key areas of focus.

Harmening has led General Mills for nearly a decade. During his tenure, the company expanded its portfolio, including its presence in pet food, and returned more than $17 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases.

The leadership transition comes as General Mills focuses on improving growth and operational efficiency across its global food portfolio.
