Trane Technologies Expands AI Data Center Cooling Portfolio With Two NVIDIA DSX-Based Designs

Trane Technologies has introduced two new 250-megawatt thermal management reference designs for high-density AI factories, expanding its data center cooling portfolio around the NVIDIA DSX AI Factory platform.

The new designs incorporate technologies from recently acquired LiquidStack and Stellar Energy and are built around zero-water-consumption cooling architectures. Trane said the systems are intended to improve energy efficiency, shorten deployment timelines and redirect more electrical capacity toward compute workloads.

One design combines direct-to-chip liquid cooling with Trane Ascend air-cooled chillers and can improve cooling efficiency by up to 25%. The company said the architecture can reallocate as much as 22 MW of power to compute and improve annualized partial PUE from 1.201 to 1.083 without consuming water.

The second design uses Stellar Energy modular cooling plants with Trane CenTraVac water-cooled chillers and dry fluid coolers. Trane said the system can achieve zero Water Usage Effectiveness, improve chiller power consumption by up to 16% and redirect about 8 MW of electrical capacity to AI workloads.

Trane also said LiquidStack’s GigaModular Coolant Distribution Unit has qualified as NVIDIA DSX Ready. The CDU can scale to 14 MW and is designed to reduce capital costs compared with conventional row-based installations.

The launch strengthens Trane Technologies’ position in AI data center infrastructure, where cooling efficiency, power availability and deployment speed are becoming critical constraints as compute density continues to rise.
