Microchip Launches New 65V Digital Power Monitors for 48V AI, Automotive and Industrial Systems
Microchip Technology (NASDAQ: MCHP) introduced its new PAC1761 and PAC1861 families of 65V energy-aware digital power monitors, targeting growing demand for 48V power architectures across AI data centers, automotive, networking and industrial applications.
The new devices are designed to monitor not only real-time voltage, current and power, but also accumulated energy consumption over time. Microchip said the monitors provide up to 65V measurement capability and 75V transient spike protection, helping designers improve efficiency, reliability and system resilience in higher-power 48V environments.
Key features include programmable alerts for voltage, current and power excursions, step-limit detection for sudden load changes, and configurable accumulated-energy thresholds. The products are available in 12-bit PAC1761 and 16-bit PAC1861 versions, with pin-compatible package options intended to reduce redesign and qualification requirements.
The PAC1761 and PAC1861 families are available now, with pricing starting at $0.56 per unit in 10,000-unit quantities. The products are aimed at applications including AI/data centers, servers, telecom infrastructure, automotive systems and 48V power distribution.
