Microchip Technology Completes Hailo Acquisition to Expand Edge AI Portfolio

Microchip Technology said it completed its acquisition of Hailo, adding AI accelerators, vision processors, robotics processors and related software to its semiconductor portfolio. Financial terms were not disclosed, and Microchip said the transaction is not expected to have a material impact on its financial results.

The acquisition strengthens Microchip’s position in Edge AI, machine vision, robotics and Physical AI. By combining Hailo’s AI and vision technologies with Microchip’s embedded processing, connectivity, security, analog, FPGA and power products, the company aims to offer more complete platforms for intelligent systems at the edge.

Hailo’s portfolio supports computer vision, transformer-based models, multimodal workloads and advanced video analytics. Microchip said the combined offering could address applications ranging from low-power smart cameras to autonomous machines and high-performance robotics.

Hailo also brings more than 100 customers and a developer community of over 10,000 users. Microchip plans to continue supporting Hailo’s existing products and software environment while investing in future AI acceleration and vision-processing technologies.

The deal reflects Microchip’s broader push to capture growing demand for AI inference outside centralized data centers, particularly in industrial, automotive, robotics and other embedded applications.
