Microsoft, Marvell and Utimaco Launch Cloud-Scale Payment Security Platform

Microsoft, Marvell Technology and Utimaco introduced Azure Payment HSM v2, a new cloud-native payment security platform designed for banks, payment processors and other financial institutions operating regulated payment workloads.

The service combines Marvell’s LiquidSecurity hardware security modules, Utimaco’s Atalla Payments Module software and Microsoft Azure into a fully managed offering. It is designed to help customers secure payment transactions, protect cryptographic keys and meet PCI security, audit and compliance requirements without deploying or managing their own physical HSM infrastructure.

The platform targets growing demand for scalable payment infrastructure as transaction volumes, fraud risks and regulatory requirements increase. Marvell provides the cloud-scale hardware security layer, Utimaco supplies payment-focused cryptographic software, and Azure delivers the solution as a managed cloud service.

Azure Payment HSM v2 is available in public preview beginning September 17 in the Western U.S. and Western Europe.

For Marvell, the partnership broadens the use of its security hardware beyond traditional data-center infrastructure and into cloud-based financial services, an area where demand for secure, high-throughput payment processing continues to expand.
