Apollo Provides $1.25 Billion to Support BMG-Concord Combination

Apollo Global Management said funds and affiliates it manages provided a $1.25 billion equity capital solution to support the recently completed combination of BMG and Concord, creating a larger global music company spanning publishing, recorded music, theatrical rights and digital distribution.

As part of the transaction, Apollo acquired a noncontrolling interest in a BMG subsidiary that holds the legacy Concord asset-backed securities portfolio, backed by a catalog of more than 1 million songs. The new equity capital will allow BMG to repay certain outstanding ABS liabilities.

The transaction extends Apollo’s growing presence in music-related financing. Since 2022, the firm has supported more than $4.5 billion of Concord ABS issuance, while Apollo said it has originated more than $8 billion of music-industry investments over the past five years.

The combined company retains the BMG name and is headquartered in Nashville. BMG said the deal strengthens its financial foundation and gives the enlarged group greater scale and resources to pursue long-term growth opportunities across the global music market.
